Jesus is the Vine and we are the branches. As the Vine, He sends His life-flow into those who believe in Him and who receive Him as Savior and Lord. We, as His branches, are grafted into the Vine. We became one with Him to receive the very righteousness of God in Christ. We are seen through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ by the Father, because the life of Christ, the life of the Vine, flows through us. His very righteousness is put down to our account in heaven. We stand holy and blameless before a holy God. It is the work of the Vine to bear branches. As a branch we come forth out of Jesus, the Vine. We take on the life and likeness of the Vine. But the Vine does not bear fruit; branches do. As the life of the Vine flows through the branches, they become fruitful. Likewise, the river of life in Christ must flow freely in us, to supply water to our fruit. Should the river channel become dirty with sin and block the flow, the fruit will wither and die. "Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit." (Jn 15:2) He becomes all when we are willing to be nothing as we recognize Him as the Vine, the Source of that fruit-producing river of Life.
Choices, choices, choices ... "Precious in the sight of the Lord WHY? Why is the death of His children precious in the eyes of God? Because they have accepted the blood-sacrifice that Jesus paid for their sin by shedding His blood on the cross. Now, having been raised from the dead and having ascended to His Father, Jesus is seated at the right hand of God Almighty. On these grounds alone, mankind is redeemed. On these grounds alone, people who accept Jesus Christ as Savior go to heaven when they die – and receive the praise of God. On these grounds alone, people receive either eternal life in heaven or eternal death in hell, and the death of the saints – His children – is precious to Father God. [Heaven and hell are literal destinations. Heaven is the abode of God Who is pure love. Hell is for the devil, his angels, and those who reject Christ. It is a place of weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth. It is a place of unquenchable thirst, torment, and fire.] SAVIORSHIP OR LORDSHIP? But there is another reason why the death of Christians is "precious" to Father God: some saints also accept Jesus Christ's example and lifestyle; they test and prove their faith through exercising the Lordship of Christ. And there is a big difference between Saviorship and Lordship. Saviorship – accepting Jesus' sacrifice on the cross – is fire insurance out of hell; Lordship is total surrender to the Holy Spirit. |

THE SEED OF ETERNAL LIFE When we accept Christ as Savior, we become alive to God. The Seed of eternal life is planted by the Holy Spirit deep within our human spirit. When the Seed is nurtured by reading the Bible, praying to God, and fellowshipping with like-minded believers, it bursts forth into a Tree of Life from within. Some are content to remain in this staus – as born-again spiritual infants. Others are willing to pay a price – to spiritually grow-up because they allow Christ to be the Lord of their lives. Jesus said, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." (Mt. 16:24) Follow Him where? To the cross, where we learn to deny our carnal nature until the Holy Spirit delivers a death-blow to the old nature. Follow Him where? To heaven, where rewards are given. CREATED FOR GOD'S PLEASURE We were not created for human pleasure alone; we were created for God's pleasure. We were designed to worship Him and have fellowship with Him – and through worship and fellowship, to prepare for eternity with Him. Instead, through sin, we have perverted God's Will and creative purpose. Human life that only exercises human will or seeks human pleasure is wasted human life. To have only human life is to have human existence – not life. In reality, there is no life outside of Jesus Christ. We call our time on earth a "lifetime". But it is a time when we receive life – life that goes on into eternity. We are spirits, and spirits never die – they only change dwelling places. Spirits will always exist and dwell – in heaven or hell. We choose our dwelling place. Eternal life is the life of God Himself flowing like a river inside us and out through us to others. It is having the reality of Him who is life When the Christ-life is truly released in us, it brings total peace and complete satisfaction. To settle for less as a Christian is to stop short of the glory of God. WHOM WILL YOU SERVE? "Now is the day of salvation" (2Cor 6:2) So choose whom you will serve: God, Satan, or yourself. Are you willing to be born-again? What do you want when you die? Where do you want to dwell? And, if you already are a Christian, are you willing to continue with Jesus until Christ is revealed in you and to you? Until you have the life-flow that comes from the "I Am" of God? Do you want Saviorship or Lordship? Are you content knowing you will have praise of God – or do you want rewards to lay at Jesus' feet? "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Heb 9:27) How will God view your death? I pray for every one of you – that you make the right choice. Amen. |
