Myrna's Morsels
The Paper Cup
When I received Jesus
Christ as my personal Savior, I fell in love with Him. My cup was full and I
cried out to Him, "Jesus, Jesus, I love you. I want to serve you, Lord.
Please use me. Use me!" The more He used me, the more joyful I became.
Everything was wonderful
Then slowly over time, I gradually spent less time with my first love and more time doing Hi work. A little less prayer today, more promises to make up the lost fellowship tomorrow. My cup began to leak and show wear round the edges. The little bit of water left in the bottom was becoming stale.
Finally, the cup was empty. I cried out to the Lord that I felt so used, abused, and misused. He showed me that although I loved Him, I was no longer "in love" with Him. As I was in the woodshed, the Lord made me realize that if you value any kind of relationship, you don't take it for granted.
If I make Him my hiding place, the Holy Spirit will keep me filled. I learned to drink of the Spirit daily. How much better to keep my cup full to the point of overflowing.
So, when you feel your cup slowly leaking and you sense you're being used by people and not the Lord, ask yourself, "Have I been praying lately? Have I spent time reading the Word? Have I lost my first love?"
