Issue 2: Vessel
Myrna's Morsels: David and His Sling
King
David was a person after God's own heart for two reasons. He was quick to
repent and he was a willing vessel. David was able to face his "Great
goliath" without fear because he knew his God through an intimate
relationship. He had overcome the fear of man, beast and Satan through that
relationship. The more time he spent with the Lord, the more he knew His
faithful and trustworthy nature.
David's
Goliaths grew with time and in proportion to his faith. He slew several
"little Goliath's before he was actually ready to stand before all
Israel and face the "Great Goliath".
As we learn to be quick to repent and become a willing vessel, we also want to spend more time alone with Him. We learn to know our God and His faithfulness. We too will experience our own "little Goliaths" before we face our "Great Goliath".
David saw his sling as a gift from God. Through practice, he and his sling become one vessel. Thus God could guide the stones or whatever went from that vessel as one through His Spirit.
Have you counted your gift so personal and precious that through time and practice you have become one vessel? Can God guide you as one through His Spirit?
Beware. David was tempted by those around him to use the giftings or armor of
another. Even though Satan brought the temptation, David knew who he was in
God (his giftings and his own personal armor) well enough to resist the
temptation.
By the time David faced his "Great Goliath", he had learned to be himself. He was David being David. When we learn David's lessons, we too will be a person after God's own heart and with the same results.

Day 2 Lover
"He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love." SOS 2:4
"I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine…" SOS 6:3
"… who walketh upon the wings of the wind." PS 104:3
He's the lover of my soul. He comes walking upon the wings of the wind. He's the breath of God and the wind itself. He comes unexpected -- like the soft summer breeze. His gentle touch caresses my soul -- a touch more precious than silver or gold.
We eat, and we drink, and we laugh as one. My soul feeds on His love, and my spirit drinks of His wine. We share in fellowship and communion. He whispers the secrets of His heart -- then seals my lips that I may not tell. My heart leaps with delight, for He has given me my heart's desire.
His
song is the meadowlark's song. For He created the meadowlark, and there is
none to compare. His kiss is that of a tender babe. His touch is the petal
of a fresh rose -- the Rose of Sharon. His warmth is summertime with all its
beauty. His smile is the sun itself, for He created it to reveal His light.
He is the Son of Righteousness.
My lover comes laden with gifts for His beloved. His presence is priceless perfume. His joy is unspeakable. His peace is sought but never found by the world. His love is pure, clean, untouched and beautiful to behold. For the Lover of my soul is Jesus, the Creator of love.
"He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." 1 Jn 4:8
